Well, for me it’s a sordid crime the way I just up and left my infant blog. My only shoddy excuse is that we moved. And that making a house a home takes me a good long while. I slipped out of here in May and am now back here this beautiful month of October. But there is also the way I procrastinate when it comes to writing. It’s not writer’s block at all. I have none of that! I lie in bed at night imagining all the wonderful things I could be writing about. Come morning, I chuck those ideas and instead spend the crux of my days cleaning the house, doing laundry, taking the dogs for walks, hanging shelves, feeding my son’s turtle, baking pies. Anything but sitting at the computer and doing the work I most love most of all in the world to do. WRITE!
I realized I need to just jump back into it, offer a heartfelt apology to myself and any of you who may be reading and get back into it. Not just with this here blog, but back into spending nice portions of the day writing and editing and doing those things that help me bring in a modicum of financial assistance to this family.
So, with that out of the way…
Do you want to see a few pics of the new digs?
We (I) call the new abode a “farmlette” and I’ve even begun a little writing corner on the web about it. I’ll share that in due time. (The above pic is our outdoor oven/kitchen. In the background is the shed. We originally said it was a “she shed” then hubby jokingly claimed it as a “he shed” (hmm), but since then we’ve thrown two bean bag chairs in there and called it good for now. Essentially, until we find the proper purpose for it it is a hiding place for both kids and adults alike.)
My massive library is gone, gone. I’m left with bookshelves scattered hither tither throughout the house (and am in the process of collecting more while out thrifting or junking or garage sale-ing). I’m not sure I don’t actually like it BETTER than the big wall of shelves at the old abode.
I’ve been spending more time on Kindle. Which is actually my iPhone. I’m not sure, but I think reading on my phone is causing me to get headaches. Or maybe it’s the topic I’m reading about? Or the sinus infection I’m chronically battling. All of the above? Regardless, here is what I’m currently in the midst of:
This one literally fell into my lap, out of thin air. I’m not kidding. Suddenly there it was in my Kindle library and it’s been my go-to for the past week.
Since last we were in touch, my readin’ has taken an about-turn in the direction of non-fiction (specifically, titles about de-materialization, reducing waste, etc.) And what I’m finding is that there’s a lot of misinformation out there 🙁 that I’ll get into maybe next time.
It’s nice to be back and now I’m off to mop the floors. Bwah, wah wah…
